Frans-Aert Burghgraef

Frans-Aert Burghgraef starts his carreer, after his education at  the  Winkler Prins Lyceum (High School) at Veendam at het Noord-Nederlands Conservatoire at Groningen. Here he  learned playing euphonium at Ane Travaille and HafaBra-conductioning at Tijmen Botma. Both studies he finished "cum laude"

Frans-Aert Burghgraef, born 1983, studied orchestral conducting at the conservatoires of Groningen and Utrecht. He attended masterclasses with a.o. Alexander Polyanichko, Ivan Meylemans, Michail Jurowski, and Jan Stulen. From an international selection of two hundred conductors he was invited to attend a masterclass with maestro Bernhard Haitink, as part of the renowned Lucerne Festival. Maestro Edo de Waart selected him to conduct a concert with the Royal Flemish Philharmonic.
In January 2015 maestro Burghgraef was awarded with the first prize in the renowned Taipei International Conducting Competition. Chairman of the jury was the illustrious Finnish conductor, coach and scout Jorma Panula.

Right after his debut with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra in March 2014 he was re-invited to conduct concerts in October 2014. He conducted het Gelders Orkest, St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Strings, BACH Orchestra Yekaterinburg, Metropole Orchestra and Astrakhan Philharmonic.  Future engagements include the Philharmonie Zuidnederland in June 2015 and Noord-Nederlands Orkest in 2016.
Frans-Aert Burghgraef gives masterclasses in Belgium and Switzerland, and as artistic director he is affiliated to Summer Orchestra Holland. 

Halfway his euphoniumstudy his passion for conducting arises. In total he is seven years conductor of  Soli Brass of which  he records six compact discs and he wins  the  National Dutch Brassband Championshipss. Also he immerses himself into the symphony orchestra. His teacher in Utrecht was Jussi Jaatinen. In this period he followed several masterclasses and was selected for a masterclass with Edo de Waart with the Residentie Orkest. 

In his short carreer Burghgraef conducted several (well-established orchestras such as the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, de Württembergische  Philharmonie Reutlingen, de Koninklijke Militaire Kapel "Johan Willem Friso", Symfonieorkest "Pulcinella", de Noord-Limburgse Brassband, the Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine, Fanfare Kempenbloei, Achel  en de Koninklijke Harmonie of Peer. At this moment he is conductor of Wind Orchestra Sint-Jan at Wierden and Musica Silvestra, student symfonyorchestra from the University of Twente.    fransmusic
